Chris Heaton:
In regards to the section in the "In Service" magazine titled, News From The Road, I would like to personally thank you, the organization, and Mike Gomez for an excellent job that you have provided for the Hunt County Sheriff's Office.
Last year, Mike Gomez traveled to Hunt County and provided excellent training for a structured field training program. Since that time, and through his continued help, we have an up and running program that I feel stands out in the surrounding area. The program now consists of six field training officers who are all currently instructors through TCLEOSE. The program has since hired four full time deputies, trained them, and gotten them out on the streets. We have hired one more deputy who is currently in the field training program. Believe it or not, we are in the process of once again hiring another full time deputy. The training has led this office and deputies to a "higher level of training" that is needed in today's law enforcement.
Several of these FTO's did attend the New Supervisor School given by TMPA and taught again by Mike Gomez earlier this year. Once again, I was highly impressed by his teaching skills and presentations.
Again, I would like to thank your organization and Mike Gomez for the continued support and excellent training that you provide. It feels great to see the progression of this training, and the application that is dedicated by these deputies, and you should be proud as well to have a staff that trail-blazed a new beginning for the Hunt County Sheriff's Office.
Thank you,
Hunt County Sheriff's Office
Sgt. Hunter D. Landry
FTO Coordinator
