Dear Kevin,

In 2007, I was involved in an incident while on duty, which lead to an internal affairs investigation that lasted four months.  The result of this investigation was my termination.  Six months later I was indicted on three felony charges from my previous department. At the time I was working as a deputy constable for Dallas County.  I had to resign my position.

From the very beginning I had Ms. Jane Bishkin as my legal representative.  After my indictments, Ms. Bishkin agreed to represent me in my criminal trial.  After two long exhausting and very frightening years, Ms. Bishkin was able to get two charges dismissed.   In February of 2009, Ms. Bishkin and I went to trial on the remaining charge.  For the following week, Ms. Bishkin took on Dallas County and a very abrasive, intimidating, and over bearing district attorney, which clearly had a great dislike for police officers.

On February 24th, I was acquitted of the last charge.  During my trial, Ms. Bishkin was absolutely excellent in discrediting all the witnesses for the prosecution.  Her preparation for this trial was absolutely flawless.  There are no words that can express my gratitude to Ms. Bishkin and TMPA.  For two years, Ms. Bishkin kept me informed of everything that she did concerning my legal matters.  After my acquittal, Ms. Bishkin handled my expunction, which now has been completed.  TMPA paid my entire legal fees.

I truly know that without the help of Ms. Bishkin and TMPA I could be on my way to prison.  Ms. Bishkin never questioned my innocence.  She always gave me the support and encouragement that I needed when I began to doubt a victory.  I easily found out that when an officer is accused of any wrong doing they are guilty until proven innocent.  If there is an officer that goes on duty every day without being a member of TMPA, it’s the same as going to work without a gun.

With much gratitude,

Susan E. Craig
