Critical Incidents Report for August 2021

In August, TMPA opened 9 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents  involved members  from  various agencies  throughout the state including: Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Constable Precinct 3, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Plano Police Department, Round Rock Police Department, Texas DPS, University of Houston-Downtown Police Department, Waco Police Department, and included the following:

1.    Members were involved in a shooting with a kidnapping suspect.

2.    Member and other officers from different agencies were conducting a welfare check when a male suspect began firing at them. A pursuit ensued ending in a standoff. Suspect died at the scene.

3.    Member was involved in a shooting with an armed suspect who returned fire.

4.    Six other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting.
