Critical Incidents Report for January 2025

In January, TMPA opened 15 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Arlington Police Department, Bexar County Sheriff's Office, Boerne Police Department, Edinburg Police Department, Farmers Branch Police Department, Fort Worth Police Department, Lampasas County Sheriff's Office, Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, Lufkin Police Department, Mansfield I.S.D. Police Department, Odessa Police Department, Richardson Police Department, Round Rock Police Department, Texas Board of Criminal Justice, Tomball Police Department and include the following:


1. Member was involved in a pursuit that ended with suspect committing suicide.

2. Member was involved in a shooting with an armed robbery suspect.

3. Member was responding to a shots fired disturbance. While entering an intersection, member was involved in a fleet accident. Three passengers in the citizen vehicle were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

4. Member was involved in the shooting of a dog.

5.Member was involved in a pursuit/in-custody death.

6. Member was involved in a pursuit that ended in a fatality.

7. Member assisted with a traffic stop during a narcotics investigation. The suspect fired a round and member returned fire stopping the threat.

8. Eight other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting.
