
Critical Incidents Report for January and February 2026
In January and February, TMPA opened 27 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including:
Addison Police Department, Carrollton Police Department, Cedar Hill Police Department, Conroe Police Department, Copperas Cove Police Department, Ector County Sheriff’s Office, Garland Police Department, Grand Prairie Police Department, Irving Police Department, Killeen Police Department, Lubbock Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Mission Police Department, Plano Police Department, Richardson Police Department, Sherman Police Department, Texas DPS, Victoria County Sheriff’s Office, Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, Wood County Sheriff’s Office and include the following:
1. Member made a traffic stop when the suspect attempted to run over member. A pursuit ensued that ended with suspect committing suicide. Robert Rogers with Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member.
2. Attorney Robert Rogers with Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member who was involved in a pursuit with injuries.
3. Attorney Lance Wyatt assisted member who was involved in a pursuit fatality.
4. Member was involved in a shooting with an armed suspect on a domestic violence call. Suspect was hit with return fire, unknown injuries. Attorney Chris Wanner assisted member.
5. Member was involved in a pursuit that resulted in a fatality. Attorney Lance Wyatt assisted member.
6. Member was involved in a standoff with an armed suspect during a shots-fired call. When suspect pointed firearm at officers, member and another officer stopped the threat. Attorney Lance Wyatt arrived on scene to assist member with statement.
7. Member discharged duty weapon and was assisted by attorney Bob Gorsky.
8. Attorney Doug O’Connell assisted member who was involved in a vehicle pursuit where the suspect vehicle crashed resulting in life-threatening injuries.
9. Member was involved in an in-custody death where member was transporting a prisoner to the county jail, and upon arrival, prisoner was unresponsive and died. Attorney Greg Cagle assisted member with statement.
10.Attorney Tiger Hanner assisted member who was involved in a pursuit with a possible fatality.
11. Member was involved in an in-custody death and was assisted with their statement by attorney John Snider with Bob Gorsky’s office.
12. Member was involved in a shooting where member had to fire on a vehicle a suspect was using to evade arrest. The vehicle flipped over on the highway causing minor injuries to suspect. Attorney Randall Moore assisted member with statement.
13. Attorney Lance Wyatt assisted member who was involved in a pursuit that ended in a shooting.
14. Member was involved in the shooting of a dog and was assisted by attorney Bob Gorsky.
15.Several members were involved in a traffic stop where the suspect resisted and began fighting. Suspect was tased and stopped breathing and died. Attorney Lance Wyatt arrived on scene to assist member with statement. Attorneys Randall Moore and Shawn Roten assisted other involved members.
16. Attorney Lee Hon assisted member who was involved in a pursuit fatality.
17. Member was involved in a shooting with a suspect where the suspect was not hit but was tased and arrested. Attorney Laurie Drymalla with Doug O’Connell’s office arrived on scene to assist member.
18. Member was involved in a shooting with an armed suicidal subject. Attorney Randall Moore assisted member with statement.
