
Critical Incidents Report for June 2025
In June, TMPA opened 30 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including:
Baytown Police Department, Bell County Sheriff’s Office, Brazoria County Constable Precinct 4, Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office, Cibolo Police Department, Conroe Police Department, Dallas Area Rapid Transit, Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Duval County Sheriff’s Office, Frisco Police Department, Gaveston Police Department, Garland Police Department, Grand Prairie Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Kaufman Police Department, Kerrville Police Department, Lakeview Police Department, Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, Mont Belvieu Police Department, Morgans Point Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, Texas Tech University Police Department, Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, Tyler Police Department and include the following:
1. Member was in pursuit of an evading suspect on a motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed, likely killing the suspect. John Snider with Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member.
2. Attorney Amanda Bolin assisted member who was involved in the pursuit of a motorcyclist who crashed into a pole and did not survive.
3. Member was involved in an in-custody death and was assisted by attorney Marsha Todd. Member arrested a suspect who, after becoming ill and taken to the hospital, later died.
4. Attorney Marsha Todd assisted member who was involved in a shooting with a suspect wielding a machete.
5. Member shot a dog while on duty. Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member.
6. Greg Cagle assisted members who were dispatched to a shots-fired disturbance call with one person injured from a gunshot wound. After arriving, and while members were tending to the injured person, the suspect committed suicide.
7. Member was involved in the shooting of a dog who was attacking member’s partner. Attorney Chad Hyde assisted member with statement.
8. Member was involved in a major accident and was transported to local hospital. Attorney Marsha Todd arrived on scene and then the hospital to assist member.
9. Attorney Chad Hyde assisted member who was involved in a pursuit that ended with injuries.
10. Member was involved in a pursuit with a suspect on a motorcycle. The motorcycle crashed and the suspect died. Attorney Marsha Todd arrived on scene to assist member.
11. Attorney Greg Cagle assisted member who was involved in an auto/ped accident.
12. Member was ordered to remove an inmate from jail for release for time served. Later that day, the released inmate was arrested and taken into custody and died. Attorney David Willis assisted member for the in-custody death.
13. Attorney Robert McCabe assisted member who was shot in the head during an officer involved shooting.

Member was involved in a shooting of a violent armed suspect who engaged officers in a firefight and assaulted member with a vehicle. Attorney Phil Johnson arrived on scene to assist member.
15. Member was involved in a standoff with a suicidal suspect. During an ineffective taser deployment, the suspect committed suicide. Attorney William Lee Hon arrived on scene to assist member.
16. Attorney Chris Wanner assisted member who ran over a suspect.
17. Attorney Robert Rogers with Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member who was involved in a vehicle pursuit that resulted in a fatal crash.

Member was involved in an in-custody death and was assisted by attorney Greg Cagle.
19. Member made a traffic stop of a violator who refused to exit the vehicle as commanded and began to resist. Member had to forcibly remove the violator from the vehicle and during the extrication, the violator’s leg was run over by violator’s vehicle. Violator was taken to hospital and underwent surgery. Attorney Jeep Darnell assisted member.
20. Attorney Greg Cagle assisted member who was involved in an in-custody death.
21. Ten other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting (Attorneys who assisted include Bob Gorsky’s office, Amanda Bolin, Paul Aman, Kenneth Biggs, Marsha Todd, Chad Hyde, Steve Dunbar)
