Critical Incidents Report for May 2025

In May, TMPA opened 13 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Bedford Police Department, Castro County Sheriff’s Department, Denton County Constable Precinct 4, Freestone County Sheriff’s Department, Galveston County Sheriff’s Department, Grand Prairie Police Department, Harris County Constable Precinct 1, Harris County Sheriff’s Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, Pinehurst Police Department, Plano Police Department, Sugar Land Police Department, Texas DPS and include the following:


1. Member was involved in a pursuit where the suspect vehicle crashed, and the suspect was ejected and died. Amanda Bolin assisted member.

2. Attorney Marsha Todd assisted member who responded to a suspicious vehicle call. Upon arrival, suspect exited the vehicle wielding a large knife and advanced towards officers. Member went hands-on with suspect and another officer fired duty weapon ending the threat.

3. Member was involved in a pursuit that ended with injuries to suspect and member. Chad Hyde assisted member.

4. Marsha Todd assisted member who was involved in a pursuit with serious bodily injuries.

5. Members responded to a barricaded subject call. Less lethal devices were deployed but suspect committed suicide. Bob Gorsky’s office assisted members.

6. Zach Horn with Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member who was involved in a critical incident resulting in a suspect vehicle striking another vehicle causing serious bodily injury.

7. Member was involved in an in-custody death and was assisted by attorney John Cullar.

8. Member responded to a disturbance call that involved the discharge of a firearm. Upon arrival, the suspect pointed a gun at the deputies and member discharged duty weapon, stopping the threat. Attorney Marsha Todd arrived on scene to assist member.

9. Member was serving an eviction notice and upon arrival, the subject entered the restroom and committed suicide. Bob Gorsky’s office assisted member.

10. Four other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting (Attorneys who assisted include Amanda Bolin, Chris Wanner, Bob Gorsky, and Marsha Todd.)
