We would like to share some of the recent legal successes TMPA has had for our members. In this report, we will give the names of the attorneys who represented our members but omit the names of the members involved.
Paul G. Aman – Paul G. Aman, Attorney at Law, P.C.
• Member was placed under IA for harassment. Upon review, member was exonerated of any wrongdoing.
• Member was placed under IA related to role as a supervisor during a critical incident. Upon review, member was exonerated.
• Member was placed under IA for unprofessional conduct off duty. Upon review, member was exonerated.
• Member was placed under IA for use of force. Upon review, member was exonerated by IAD, and the case was closed.
• Member’s license was suspended by TCOLE for 30 days for completing a false or untruthful Background Confirmation Form. After appeal, the Administrative Law Judge recommended a letter of reprimand.
John Cullar – Law Office of R. John Cullar
• Member was involved in an on-duty shooting. Upon review, the grand jury no billed member.
Butch Dunbar – Dunbar & Morgan, LLP
• Member was placed under investigation by TCOLE regarding a background investigation. Upon review, a suggested 6-month suspension was reduced to a 90-day probated suspension.
Steven Dunbar – Law Offices of Steven M. Dunbar
• Member was placed under IA and demoted for being unfit to be a supervisor. After appeal, member was placed back on the eligibility list and member’s record was cleared.
• Member was named as a defendant in a lawsuit. Upon review, the lawsuit against member was dismissed with prejudice by the Court.
Randall Moore – Law Offices of Randall D. Moore, PLLC
• Member received a written reprimand for assisting an officer. After member’s response, the written reprimand was reduced to a verbal and the case was closed.
• Member was terminated without reason and was never given a copy of the complaint. Upon review and working with the new chief, member returned to work and received backpay for the termination time.
• Member was placed under IA for racial profiling. Upon review, the complaint was unfounded, and the case was closed.
• Member was placed under IA for violating department policies. Upon review, the complaint was unfounded.
• Member was placed under IA for policy violations during a paramedic call. Upon review, the chief decided not to pursue the investigation, and the case was closed with no adverse action taken against member.
Robert Rogers – Gorsky, Gilbert, Snider, Horn, Rogers & Watsky, LLP
• Member was involved in an on-duty shooting. Upon review, member was no billed.
Andy Stinson – Ramey & Flock
• Member was involved in an on-duty shooting. Upon review, the grand jury no billed member.
• Member was placed on administrative leave for inappropriate conduct. Upon review, member was no billed and reinstated.
Ray Thomas – Raymond L Thomas, Jr, Attorney at Law
• Member received a write-up and a shift transfer for policy violations. After appeal, the shift transfer was reversed and member returned to original shift.
