Dear Lt. Governor Patrick,

On behalf of the 30,000 members of TMPA, I would like to thank you for your courage and leadership during these extra ordinary times. Law enforcement officers across the country are under attack by those who want to create not only physical suffering but tear at the fabric of society. These individuals and groups want to create chaos and disorder as opposed to improving society. The attacks on law enforcement have had a chilling effect on peace officers who are just trying to do the job they signed up for, protect and serve their community.

After listening to your interview yesterday on the Fox News Channel, I was struck not only the content but the passion in your message. You defended us, offered support and spoke out against those who vilify us while others have been afraid. We have witnessed leadership at all levels across the country shy away from or outright hide when it comes time to defending the law enforcement profession. Now more than ever we need our leaders to stand up and defend us against the constant demonization and cries for defunding.  

Please know that all of Texas law enforcement appreciates your honesty, bravery and support. We know you are a man of your word and have our backs when we need it most.

Thank you for your leadership and service to the great state of Texas.
