The Honorable Ken Paxton
Attorney General of Texas
300 W. 15th Street
Austin, Texas 78701

Dear Attorney General Paxton:

Eighty thousand Texas police officers proudly wear a badge and stand ready against those who would do harm to the good and the innocent. In a time where anti-police rhetoric has become a mantra for the frustrated outspoken, your letter supporting law enforcement serves as a clarion call for every citizen who recognizes the simple truth: the vast majority of police officers are good people with a difficult job and who want the best for those they are sworn to protect.

Officers not only serve the community but are part of the community, and our ranks are as diverse as the neighborhoods we keep safe. Incendiary rhetoric designed to separate the community from officers should be denounced at every level of government, by leaders on each side of the aisle

Last year, Texas buried nineteen peace officers who died in the line of duty. This year, we have already buried twenty. Every day 80,000 families pray that their father, mother, son, or daughter  come home safe and are spared from joining the grim list of fallen heroes.

We value the lives of every human.

We denounce the demonization of peace officers.

Thank you for honoring our fallen by standing up for the brothers and sisters in blue that they have left behind.

Respectfully,

Kevin Lawrence
Executive Director
