Student Required Equipment: Laptop computer with PowerPoint, Keynote, Canva (or similar), Note taking material, Class "C" uniform (or higher) or business casual attire for Friday. The Basic Police Instructor Course (TCOLE #1014) is a comprehensive 40-hour program designed to prepare Texas peace officers, jailers, or telecommunicators with at least two years of experience to become effective instructors. The course covers essential topics such as:

  • Instructional techniques: Developing effective teaching methods and strategies.
  • Lesson planning: Creating structured and engaging lesson plans.
  • Communication skills: Enhancing verbal and non-verbal communication for better classroom management.
  • Evaluation methods: Assessing student performance and providing constructive feedback.
  •  Upon successful completion, participants will be certified to instruct within their agencies and training academies.
