Resilient Response: Policing Trauma

Operation Connected Response (OCR) is a statewide initiative through STARRY that provides no-cost training and technical assistance to law enforcement agencies across Texas to advance trauma-informed policing. OCR equips officers with the knowledge and practical skills to effectively and compassionately respond to individuals impacted by trauma, particularly youth, while also recognizing the effects of trauma and chronic stress on officers themselves.

Through evidence-informed training, coaching, consultation, organizational assessments, and implementation planning, OCR helps agencies integrate trauma-informed practices into both officer wellness and community interactions. Our multidisciplinary team includes TBRI® Practitioners, NEAR Science Trainers, Licensed Mental Health Professionals, and a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Certified Instructor.

By strengthening officers' understanding of trauma, promoting strategies that reduce unnecessary escalation, and supporting long-term organizational change, OCR works to improve outcomes for youth and families, strengthen trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve, and foster safer, healthier communities across Texas.
