Vehicle Extractions for Law Enforcement
Vehicle Extractions is a TCOLE credit training course designed to equip law enforcement officers with safe, repeatable, and tactically sound methods for removing compliant, resistant, and combative subjects from vehicles.
This course integrates foundational grappling, arrest control, and positional dominance concepts into real-world vehicle extraction scenarios. Officers learn how to safely approach vehicles, establish contact and cover roles, and coordinate effectively during high-risk removals while maintaining control of weapon-bearing limbs and minimizing injury risk to officers and subjects.
Course Topics Include:
- Safe and tactical vehicle approaches
- Contact, Cover, and Catch roles during extractions
- Proper use of the A-pillar and door pin technique
- Linear cuffing procedures inside the vehicle
- Arm bundle control during resistance
- Arm bar with head control during extraction
- Chin strap control and positional dominance during removal
- Transitioning from vehicle extraction to prone cuffing
- Weapon-bearing limb control and leverage principles
Training Methodology
Training includes instruction, demonstration, applied skill development, and ballistic micro-drills. Officers progress through structured resistance levels to pressure-test techniques in controlled environments that simulate real-world stress and movement.
Who Should Attend
- Active Law Enforcement Officers
- TCOLE-licensed personnel
- Patrol officers and specialized units involved in vehicle stops and high-risk contacts
This course emphasizes coordination, leverage, positional control, and lawful use of force, ensuring officers can safely and efficiently remove subjects from vehicles while maintaining tactical superiority.
