Critical Incidents Report for May 2021


In May, TMPA opened 14 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Alvarado Police Department, Bell County Sheriff’s Department, College Station Police Department, Copperas Cove Police Department, Flower Mound Police Department, Hill County Sheriff’s Department, Lancaster Police Department, Mesquite Police Department, Palmer Police Department, Pasadena Police Department, Pelican Bay Police Department, Temple Police Department, Waller County Sheriff’s Department, and included the following:

1.    Member was involved in a shooting with a suspect who was armed with an edged weapon and a club.

2.    Members were involved in a shooting that ended with the suspect being shot.

3.    Members were involved in a shooting of two armed murder suspects.

4.    Member was involved in an in-custody death. Suspect committed suicide when being pursued by member.

5.    Member was involved in a shooting but did not fire weapon.

6.    Six critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting.

7.    Two critical incidents involving an off-duty shooting.
