Critical Incidents Report for November 2021

In November, TMPA opened eight case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer’s actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Fate DPS, Harris County Constable Precinct 4, Harris County Constable Precinct 8, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Midland Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Weslaco Police Department, and included the following:



1. Member was involved in a shooting and was injured.

2. Members responded to a family disturbance call and were involved in a shooting.

3. Member responded to a call involving suspicious persons smoking marijuana. A fight and foot chase ensued, ending with a shooting between suspect and member. After the suspect’s gun jammed, member fired several shots, striking the suspect.

4. Member was involved in an on-duty shooting where the suspect was shot and injured.

5. Member was involved in a shooting with an armed suspect who was ramming vehicle into a former partner’s vehicle. The suspect used own gun to commit suicide.

6. Member was involved in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that crashed and caught fire, killing the occupants inside.

7. Member was involved in a pursuit that ended in a fatality.

8. One other critical incident involving an on-duty shooting.
